About us

180 Turning Lives Around, LLC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services to individuals and families affected by domestic and sexual violence. Our mission is to empower survivors, promote safety, and create lasting social change through advocacy, education, and support services.

Overview

180 is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the organization’s strategic initiatives. As a member of the executive team reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the COO contributes to defining 180’s strategic direction and cultural values. The COO is responsible for operational functions critical to the success and efficiency of the organization, including program operations, HR, IT, facilities, and administration. The COO oversees operations by providing visionary and day-to-day leadership, resolving organizational challenges, managing Board relations, and promoting the mission and values of 180 Turning Lives Around.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement organizational and strategic goals.
  • Board Relations: Work with the ED to effectively manage Board relations, including planning for and participating in regular Board meetings, committee meetings, and events. Support the growth and development of the organization’s Board of Directors.
  • Human Resources: Lead the HR function and manage the external HR contract in daily personnel management, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, and culture. Support risk assessment and create/enhance organizational policies and procedures.
  • Facilities: Oversee daily operations as well as capital or special projects.
  • Information Technology: Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure to support 180’s operations. Manage externally sourced IT contract.
  • Finance: Support the Finance Department with input into the annual budget, meeting budget goals, reviewing financial performance, and improving program budgeting and reporting practices.
  • Programs: Facilitate coordination of client services across programs, including coordination with residential programs, Family Justice Center, Amanda’s Easel, counseling, etc. Supervise program direction, operations and promotion, and address programmatic, clinical and client service issues.
  • Development/Communications/Admin: Work closely with the Development team to support development and fundraising efforts. Serve as a speaker for external events as needed.
  • Reporting: Provide accurate and timely reports to the ED and the Board outlining operational goals, activities, accomplishments, and concerns.
  • Admin: Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with clients, vendors, banks, investors, and all other professional business relationships. Streamline operations within the organization. Work with all departments to create, maintain, and oversee systems and processes to ensure effective management of the daily activities of the organization’s structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of ten years of leadership and management experience.
  • Management experience with non-profit organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of domestic and sexual violence issues and a commitment to supporting survivors.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and best practices in non-profit governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, program development, and task facilitation.
