WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The EHS Associate III (Loss Control Coordinator) is essential to effectively administering the loss control programs in American Red Cross Biomedical Services; supporting return to work initiatives. This position will provide support to Biomedical Services operating units nationwide in the delivery of essential loss control services which directly impact the prevention and cost of losses. The Loss Control Coordinator is responsible for assisting all Biomedical Services business units in recognizing their exposures. This loss control coordinator will report directly to the Loss Control Officer.
 
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD
  • Manages Biomedical Services Return to Work Programs within a designated area. Understand and improve the incident reporting and follow up process within Biomedical Services to ensure that adequate incident and claim reporting mechanisms are in place. Analyze current lost time injuries to determine Return to Work opportunities. Communicate with Biomedical locations and Safety staff on Return to Work activities. Work with department managers and injured employees to minimize lost time and facilitate early job-re-entry.
  • Analyze losses and high risk areas for all Biomedical functions within an Area to quantify exposure to loss and identify trends. Provides detailed analysis reports of losses including frequency and severity rates for review by appropriate accountable levels of management in Biomedical Services.
  • Assist Loss Control Officer regarding OSHA module to ensure accuracy of OSHA logs. Identify problems and work with Loss Control Officer to resolve them.)
  • Assist Loss Control Officer on workers compensation physician panels (where applicable) for American Red Cross Biomedical Services locations as needed.
  • Data entry of workers compensation, general liability and automobile incidents into claims application as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate claims records and consistent processes for such claims.
 
Scope: Individual Contributor- Works independently with minimal supervision and exercises professional judgment. Plans own work and set priorities within guidelines. Interacts with all levels of staff and management. Responsible for decisions which may have financial impacts on the organization. Work closely with all applicable stakeholders staff to facilitate early job re-entry for injured Biomedical Services workers.
 
100% Remote: Candidates can live anywhere in US
 
The salary range for this position is: $ 51,000- $75,000
Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
 
This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required (4 years). Minimum of one year of related loss control work experience. Practical skills and knowledge of loss control rules and regulations required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer expertise required with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite Applications. High level of proficiency required for Microsoft Word and Excel. Project management skills preferred. Must be able to work independently and possess ability to make sound independent judgment and decision-making skills. Valid driver’s license required.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Must be able to lift or move up to 30 pounds of weight; reach, bend, kneel, climb, push and pull; work in tight spaces. Work with a variety of tools and equipment. Exposure levels are based on the essential functions as stated in this position description; however, in some instances, variances may occur due to the applicable nature of this position within a particular work site. Therefore the work site may determine the exposure level to be greater than or less than the below stated level. This position is an Exposure Determination 0 in view of the fact that normal work involves no exposure to blood or blood components and/or human body fluids or tissue samples as a result of splashes, spills, and/or needlesticks or performance of or assistance in first aid.
