Job Description
Instructors in Minnesota’s Farm Business Management Education Programs deliver the program using a variety of methods. The primary delivery method is through individualized instruction at the student’s business. Instructors meet with the students on a regular basis to evaluate the business and develop individual educational plans. Instruction is also delivered in the traditional classroom, small group meetings, field trips, and tours.
Farm Business Management Instructors are responsible for selling credit courses to existing and new customers. Through increased sales, the instructor has increased earning potential above the guaranteed base salary.

Required Qualifications
- Must qualify for Minnesota State Credentialing in Farm Business Management. For additional information regarding licensure requirements, please refer to the Minnesota State Credentialing Website at: https://www.minnstate.edu/system/asa/academicaffairs/cfc/fields/500168.html
- Bachelor’s or above degree in agriculture, agriculture education, business, finance, economics or accounting.
- Occupation experience requirement: four full time or equivalent years of verified related paid work experience in agricultural operations, agricultural finance, or agribusiness.
- Recency requirements: one year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Three years teaching experience working with a diverse student population.
- Understanding of the mission, vision, and core values of a comprehensive two year college.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
